We had a client in Burns Beach who noticed water leaking down their driveway while they were overseas on holiday. After seeing it on their CCTV, it became an urgent priority to have it fixed as soon as possible.

We were initially called out, as it was assumed to be an issue with the reticulation system. However, upon inspection, we quickly identified a leak in the copper pipe coming off the water meter.

We contacted Brett from Mindarie Plumbing and Gas and sent through some photos. Brett was able to provide a prompt estimate and arrange a time to attend the property in Burns Beach.

However, shifting the main wastewater drain is where the challenge lies, especially if your home sits on a solid concrete slab. We will need to assess the existing drainage fall to ensure the relocated washing machine can pump its wastewater away effectively without backing up. We always provide honest advice on the most cost-effective layout options before any demolition begins.

Why does my laundry sink gurgle when the washing machine drains?

A gurgling sound coming from your laundry trough when the washing machine empties is a classic sign of a venting issue or a partial blockage in the main drain line. When the washing machine forcefully pumps out a large volume of water, it pushes air down the pipe ahead of it.

If the pipe is partially blocked by lint or soap scum, or if the plumbing system lacks proper ventilation, that trapped air is forced to escape upwards through the water trap in your sink, creating that loud gurgling noise.
